Leadership and Governance  Steering Committee

The Steering Committee comprises up to 13 members, each representing one of the 13 critical sectors to our mission. Members serve one-year terms from January 1 to December 31, with a three-year term limit. After three consecutive terms, a member must take a one-year hiatus before eligibility for reappointment. Members stepping down voluntarily must also wait one year before they can be reconsidered.

  • Appointment Process:
    • Nominations: Any coalition member can nominate themselves or another member for the role of sector chair on the Steering Committee.
    • Elections: If multiple nominations are received for a sector chair, a general election is held by November 1 of the prior year. In the event of a tie, the Steering Committee may conduct a second election or choose a candidate based on a majority vote.

    • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the progress of the coalition towards its goals, evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, and implement improvements based on feedback and analysis.
    • Resource Allocation: Decide on the allocation of resources, including human, financial, and technological resources, to maximize the coalition’s impact.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, partners, and community leaders, to enhance the coalition’s reach and impact.

    • Policy Recommendations: Craft recommendations for key consideration of policymakers.
